Recent Experience in Consulting to the Systems Integration and Facilities Management Industries

  • Growth strategy development in multiple vertical industries for a leading IT strategy consultant: For the consulting arm of a major computer equipment and services corporation, Hamilton Consultants developed a strategic vision for how network computing technology and the Internet would transform several industries and what opportunities for selling consulting services and software the new vision would create. Each industry study, relying on interviews with key corporate executives and experts and Hamilton’s own industry expertise, was three months in duration. Industries studied included media, telecommunications, retailing, wholesaling, petroleum exploration and production, petroleum refining and marketing, and agrichemicals.

  • New business development in IT and facilities outsourcing for a major telecommunications provider: Over the course of four months, Hamilton explored how to leverage the core competencies of the internal computer and telephony departments of a major telecommunications company. Hamilton staff examined nine different outside commercial opportunities including facilities management, system integration, and vertical network clearinghouse applications. Ultimately, the company entered the outsourcing business, in part as a result of this study.

  • Development and implementation of a market launch campaign for a new high-end IT outsourcing service for a leading provider focused in the government and insurance sectors: After evaluating the needs and priorities of current customers and prospects, Hamilton developed and implemented a market launch campaign for a new vertically-focused IT outsourcing service. Deliverables included pricing strategy, promotional strategy, trade show announcements, brochure copy and design, and highly-targeted promotions to key decision-makers.

  • Development of new business opportunities for a major energy services company: For a company owning a Top 25 gas utility, several pipelines, and a trading operation, Hamilton reviewed the company's skill base and physical assets to see what could be leveraged into new businesses. The team evaluated market opportunities for both services and products, and helped the client expand its revenue base while avoiding the pitfalls of utility "diversification." Opportunities in systems integration and facilities management leveraging existing skill sets and relationships were thoroughly investigated. Two specific options were chosen for implementation by the client. Hamilton prepared business cases and go-to-market strategies for each.

  • Business opportunity assessment for a major ILEC: Worked closely with senior management to explore potential business opportunities in systems integration and facilities management (both voice and data) and to formulate a cohesive strategy which best leveraged the client’s capabilities and strengths in the external marketplace.

  • External benchmarking on growth strategies for a major multinational corporation in the facilities management business: Hamilton Consultants gathered information on how facilities management companies operate in other industries such as building maintenance, data processing and military installation management, and drew lessons on growth opportunities for a provider of network facilities management.
