Bio:
Paul W. Farris is the Landmark Communications Professor of Business at the University
of Virginia's Darden Graduate School of Business Administration. He is Coordinator
of the Darden School's Marketing Area and teaches courses in the MBA, doctoral,
and executive programs. Professor Farris taught at the Harvard Business School
before his appointment at the University of Virginia. Professor Farris has worked
in marketing management for UNILEVER, Germany and in account management for the
LINTAS advertising agency.
Professor Farris is an active researcher in the areas of marketing productivity and
marketing strategy. His has authored and co-authored six books and over fifty
articles. His work appears in professional journals such as The Harvard Business
Review, Journal of Marketing, Marketing Science, Management Science, Decision
Sciences, Journal of Advertising Research, Journal of Retailing, and the Sloan
Management Review. He serves on the editorial boards of Journal of
Marketing, Journal of Retailing, and International Journal of Advertising.
Professor Farris currently sits on advisory boards for East Coast Oil, Inc. and
Newlund Laboratories, Inc. and has previously served on the board of directors for
Masland Industries. He consults and teaches executive education programs for many
international companies and Business Week included him in their "Pick of
the Crop" list of the most sought after teachers for company executive programs.
